Nikah ceremony guidelines

Marriage is one of the most blessed moments in a believer's life. When this sacred union begins in the house of Allah, it carries a deeper meaning.

"And among His signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves so that you may find tranquility in them, and He placed between you love and mercy." (Qur'an 30:21)

The spirit of the mosque

The mosque is a place of remembrance and prayer. Please keep voices gentle and conversations minimal inside the prayer hall.

Dress

Guests are asked to wear modest attire suitable for a place of worship. To protect the carpets, please avoid clothing that has glitter, sequins or loose decorations, that sheds, or that drags across the floor.

Cleanliness

Shoes are removed before entering. Please wear clean socks inside the mosque. No food or drinks inside the prayer area; light refreshments can be served at the outdoor tables, and the reception hall can be booked separately.

Decorations and photography

Photography is welcome when respectful and non-intrusive. Decorations are allowed only if they do not damage or affect the carpets or walls: no tape, pins or adhesives. A floral arch must stand on a protective mat.

Seating

For nikah ceremonies held inside the mosque, bringing chairs from outside is strictly prohibited. Only chairs provided by the mosque may be used for guests.

Fees

1 hour
$500 (2027: $600)
1.5 hours
$650 (2027: $750)
2 hours
$750 (2027: $900)
Extra time
$100 per 30 minutes, if available

Includes basic setup and cleaning. Up to 120 guests. Bookings are confirmed only once payment has been received. The contribution supports the care of the mosque, and beginning a marriage with sadaqah is a beautiful way to ask Allah for barakah.

Legal marriage in Australia

The mosque performs the religious nikah only. For legal recognition, a registered marriage celebrant is needed; the Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged at least one month before. We are happy to recommend a trusted celebrant.

بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكُمَا وَبَارَكَ عَلَيْكُمَا وَجَمَعَ بَيْنَكُمَا فِي خَيْرٍ

"May Allah bless both of you, shower His blessings upon you, and unite you in goodness." (Tirmidhi)
